Sign up for the Community Police Academy — an interactive, informational seven-week program led by Hillsborough police officers and staff.
Participants must be at least 18 years old and have no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions. Applicants who live, work or volunteer in Hillsborough will be prioritized for admission.
The program will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays starting May 5 and wrapping up the week of June 15. Sessions will be at the Police Department’s training facility, 507A Cornerstone Court.
The academy will cover:
Budget and staffing challenges
Patrol operations
Traffic enforcement
Legal process
Criminal investigations
Community services
Vice and canine operations
Hands-on activities will include a mock crime scene practical, traffic stop simulations, and a canine demonstration.
